Founded in 1997 from an innovative idea, the biga revolutionized the concept of transporting goods and people by introducing one of the first electric vehicles designed for use on roads and in industrial environments. Inspired by the Roman chariot, its design combined functionality and sustainability, anticipating modern green mobility needs by many years.

By the late 1990s, the company had established itself as a pioneering business, becoming one of the first in Italy and worldwide to certify a three-wheel electric stand-on vehicle. Versatile and intuitive, Bigà vehicles quickly found applications across a wide range of sectors, starting with healthcare before expanding into assisted mobility and law enforcement services.

This initial phase was followed by a growth and development journey focused on expanding the product range with new solutions such as tow carts, electric carts, and electric tow tractors, designed to meet the needs of a wide range of industries, from logistics and airports to the automotive sector.

The biga in healthcare: efficient hospital load handling

The healthcare sector was among the first to adopt and appreciate the biga model. Since the early 2000s, our electric vehicles have become an essential tool for handling loads within hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities. Mainly used to transport meal trolleys, clean linen, and medical supplies, our vehicles have made daily operations simpler and safer.

Today, nearly all Italian hospitals use Bigà material handling systems, valued for their reliability, manoeuvrability, and towing capacity of up to 1,000 kg.

In 2019, the company was acquired by O.L.C. Srl, a company specializing in industrial lifting systems with its own in-house metal fabrication workshop. This integration gave rise to a new company, now a leading provider of industrial material handling systems across a wide range of industries.
